Let me talk to you about Joey’s New York Pizza & Italian Restaurant. I have visited their restaurant several times over the past few months. One thing I found out is that they are very consistent in their food and service.
As you walk in, the ambiance feels cozy—a wine display is in the back near the register. Joey’s has a great selection of wine and beer. Plenty of seating, lighting, and decor make you feel like you are in an Italian family dining room. I noticed that when I went to the restroom, it needed to be freshened up and much cleaner for their customers.
The Garden Salad was very fresh and tasty. It was combined with fresh, crisp romaine and spring mix lettuce topped with tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, banana peppers, and black olives. They also have a Caesar salad with fresh, crisp romaine lettuce topped with homemade croutons and fresh parmesan. Greek salad, Chicken Caesar salad, Antipasto salad, and Tomato salad are also included on their menu.
Joey’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant has a great lunch special. The 5-inch Italian combo hero ( pictured above) was very good: Ham, salami, mortadella, capicola, and provolone topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, and Italian dressing. All the toppings are very fresh. The hoagie bun tasted great.
Pictured above is their lunch special: 5-inch sausage and peppers. The sausage and peppers were cooked to perfection, and the seasonings were the right combination to bring out great-tasting flavors. The toasted hoagie bun made this incredible sausage and peppers and took it to the next level. For this lunch special, you can choose their homemade soup of the day or a house or Caesar salad. It’s $9.95, including a soft drink. Lunch specials are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Also, you can get two slices of Neapolitan pizza. We had one slice with pepperoni and one slice with mushrooms. As you can see, the slices are huge, like New York-style pizza should be. The crust was very good. The Pepperoni on the pizza did not curl up, telling me it was of mediocre quality. All in all, it was a good pizza. The two-slice pizza special was $5.95 with a soft drink, which is a great deal.
Joey’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant also have a great dinner menu with various appetizers. They have specialties like stuffed meat pizza; it’s a no sauce, sausage, pepperoni, ham, meatball, and mozzarella sprinkled between two layers of dough. My grandma made this when I was a kid. Their calzone is huge and tastes delicious. They also have baked dishes like baked ziti and ravioli. So check out their dinner menu.
Joey’s has four locations, and we went to the one in New Port Richey, at 5205 U.S. Highway 19. Overall, Joey’s is a great place to eat. We highly recommend you try them. With a rating of 4 stars, it’s surely one that should be on your list of places to visit.
