Foodie Mob Review: Baby Hughy’s – Much More Than a Pizza Place

Holiday, Florida – Just Minutes from Tarpon Springs

When most people think of Baby Hughy’s, pizza is probably the first thing that comes to mind. And for good reason—their pizza is excellent. I’ve enjoyed it before and have always been impressed.

This visit, however, was all about lunch, and it completely changed my perspective.

Located in Holiday, just minutes from the Pinellas County line near Tarpon Springs, Baby Hughy’s offers far more than pizza. During our visit, the manager told me, “Baby Hughy’s is much more than a pizza place.” After enjoying our meal, I couldn’t agree more.

From homemade pasta and loaded sandwiches to fresh appetizers and friendly service, Baby Hughy’s has created a menu that’s worth exploring for both lunch and dinner.

What We Ordered

We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, featuring fresh, hand-sliced green tomatoes lightly battered and fried to a perfect golden crisp.

The crispy coating paired perfectly with the green tomatoes’ slightly tangy flavor, creating a great combination of texture and taste. The housemade remoulade added a creamy, flavorful kick that brought everything together. It was an excellent way to start our meal.

For my entrée, I ordered the House-Made Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, featuring grilled chicken breast served over perfectly cooked fettuccine in Baby Hughy’s homemade garlic Alfredo sauce.

The pasta was cooked al dente, while the Alfredo sauce was rich, creamy, and seasoned with just the right amount of Italian spices. Every bite was smooth, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling overly heavy.

The meal also came with a fresh side salad loaded with bacon bits, red onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and shredded cheese. I chose the Italian dressing, and the bacon bits were a pleasant surprise. They added a smoky flavor that really made the salad stand out rather than feel like an afterthought.

It also included warm garlic knot rolls, which gave the meal a true Italian feel. I couldn’t resist dipping them into the creamy Alfredo sauce, and they were the perfect complement to the pasta.

My wife ordered The Italian, served on an 8-inch toasted hoagie loaded with salami, ham, pepperoni, Italian sausage, melted mozzarella cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, banana peppers, and red onions.

This wasn’t your average Italian sandwich. It was packed from end to end with quality meats and toppings. The toasted hoagie roll added a nice crunch while holding everything together. She really enjoyed it and commented on how generous the portions were.

It was served with a side of homemade chips that were crispy, fresh, and paired perfectly with the sandwich.

The Atmosphere

Baby Hughy’s has the relaxed feel of a neighborhood sports bar where locals gather for both lunch and dinner.

One feature I really liked was that the restaurant has two bars—one inside and one outside—giving guests the option to enjoy the lively indoor atmosphere or relax on the outdoor patio.

Outside, you’ll also find their brick pizza oven, a spacious seating area, and a large yard where kids can play while adults unwind. Baby Hughy’s also features live music, making it a great place to spend an afternoon or evening with family and friends.

Whether you’re stopping in for pizza, pasta, sandwiches, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, Baby Hughy’s offers much more than most people expect.

The Service

The service was excellent.

Our server, Tammy, took great care of us throughout the meal. Even though she was the only server working during a very busy lunch rush, she never missed a beat.

She kept our drinks filled, checked on us regularly, and made sure everything came out correctly. It’s always impressive to see someone handle a busy dining room with professionalism, and Tammy did exactly that.

Foodie Mob Quick Take

Baby Hughy’s proved to be much more than just a pizza restaurant.

While their pizza has always been one of my favorites, this visit showed me they also serve excellent homemade pasta, hearty sandwiches, fresh appetizers, and fresh salads. The quality of the ingredients, generous portions, and friendly service made this an enjoyable lunch from start to finish.

If you’ve only been here for the pizza, you’re missing out on a menu that’s every bit as impressive.
