What to Order at Toula’s Trailside Cafe in Tarpon Springs

Some restaurants are places you walk in, eat, and leave. Then there are places like Toula’s Trailside Cafe.

From the moment we walked in, Toula’s had that homegrown feeling you don’t find everywhere anymore. It felt comfortable, welcoming, and familiar—the kind of neighborhood restaurant where you can imagine people coming back again and again because they know the food is good and they’ll feel at home.

That’s one reason Toula’s holds a special place with Foodie Mob. We named Toula’s a Foodie Mob Local Legend, an honor reserved for restaurants that have been part of the community for at least 10 years and have become part of the local dining story.

So when we talk about what to order at Toula’s, we’re not simply looking at a menu and picking a few items. These are the dishes we actually ordered, and the ones that stood out during our visit.

What to Order at Toula’s Trailside Cafe

Italian Hot sandwich and Italian sausage soup with lentils at Toula's Trailside Cafe in Tarpon Springs

🥪 Italian Hot

I chose the Italian Hot, and it turned out to be one of the meal’s highlights.

It’s made with Genoa salami, smoked ham, turkey, provolone cheese, pepperoncini, and balsamic mayo, all served on a French baguette. You can also order it cold.

The baguette was toasted to perfection, but what really made this sandwich stand out was the balsamic mayo.

It brought everything together and added a rich flavor that elevated the sandwich beyond what you’d expect from a typical Italian.

This wasn’t just a sandwich that filled me up. I kept thinking about it afterward.

Foodie Mob Tip: If you enjoy a good Italian sandwich, put the Italian Hot on your list.

🍲 Italian Sausage Soup with Lentils

This one was personal for me.

The Italian sausage soup with lentils arrived piping hot, just the way I like it. The creamy base was excellent, but the flavor wasn’t the only thing that stood out.

As I ate it, I felt comforted—almost like being back home as a kid.

That’s something I appreciate about food. Sometimes a great dish does more than taste good. It can bring back a feeling, a memory, or a place in your life.

That’s what this soup did for me.

It became more than just another item we ordered at lunch. It was one of those dishes that made the meal memorable.

Foodie Mob Tip: Don’t overlook the soup. For me, this was one of the most memorable things I had at Toula’s.

🥓 Classic BLT

My wife ordered the Classic BLT on wheat bread, and she really enjoyed it.

There’s nothing complicated about a good BLT, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Familiar food, prepared well, in a place that feels comfortable.

The BLT fit right into the experience at Toula’s.

Foodie Mob Tip: If you’re looking for something familiar and satisfying, the Classic BLT is a solid choice.

🥗 Homemade Greek Pasta Salad

My wife also ordered the homemade Greek pasta salad topped with feta cheese as her side.

This is the kind of thing that can easily get overlooked when you’re looking at a menu. It’s a side dish, after all.

But this one deserved some attention.

The homemade pasta salad stood out enough that we felt it deserved its own mention. The feta added another layer of flavor, and it was clear that Toula’s puts care into the little things—even the sides.

And honestly, that’s part of what gives Toula’s that homegrown feeling.

Foodie Mob Tip: If you’re ordering a sandwich, don’t overlook the homemade Greek pasta salad.

The Italian Hot was my favorite sandwich. The Italian sausage soup with lentils was my most memorable dish. My wife really enjoyed the Classic BLT, and the homemade Greek pasta salad was a standout side.

But there’s something else worth mentioning.

Toula’s feels like a neighborhood restaurant.

It’s the kind of place where the food matters, but so does the feeling you get while you’re there. That’s getting harder to find, and it’s one reason we believe Toula’s has earned its place as a Foodie Mob Local Legend.
